The GC/CM for the project will construct the following project: The UWMC-ML Energy Efficiency Upgrades Project (208817) will improve energy performance across multiple mechanical rooms located on both the roof and in the basement of the UW Medical Center. The work includes replacing outdated pneumatic controls with direct digital controls (DDC), installing variable frequency drives (VFDs), removing obsolete vortex actuators, and upgrading dampers, actuators, and reheat valves. Control logic will be modernized to ensure BACnet interoperability and enable data acquisition and performance monitoring. The identification of specific scope items and prioritization of upgrades will be developed during the design phase, informed by site assessments, input from the design team and GC/CM partner, and detailed cost estimates. Because the facility is an active, occupied hospital, the project will require careful coordination of construction activities to maintain patient safety, minimize disruption, and integrate the mechanical upgrades efficiently with ongoing hospital operations.
