Notice of Intent and Public CommentNorthern Region FFY26 NHS Interstate Bridge Preventive Maintenance and RepairsState Project Number: NFHWY01118The State of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is requesting public comment and information on the proposed Northern Region FFY25 National Highway System (NHS) Instate Bridge Preventive Maintenance and Repair; State Project Number NFHWY01118.The project purpose is to complete preventative maintenance and preservation measures on existing bridges at select locations along the NHS Interstate routes in the Northern Region. Along the Parks Highway bridge maintenance is proposed for the Alaska Native Veterans Honor Bridge at MP 304.9, and Jack Coghill Bridge to the Interior at MP 275.8. Along the Alaska Highway bridge maintenance work is proposed at the Tanana River Bridge at MP 1303.4, Scottie Creek Bridge at MP 1223.4, Johnson River Bridge at MP 1380.4, Black Veterans Recognition Bridge at MP 1246.6, Scott Johnson Memorial Bridge at MP 1309.4, Bear Creek Bridge at MP 1357.3, Chief Creek Bridge at MP1358.6, Berry Creek Bridge 1371.4, Sears Creek Bridge at MP 1374.3, Little Gerstle River Bridge at MP 1388.9, Gerstle River Bridge at MP 1392.7, Sawmill Creek Bridge at MP 1403.8. Along the Richardson Highway bridge maintenance work is proposed for the Tanana River Big Delta Bridge at MP 275.4, and the Shaw Creek Bridge at MP 286.5The work proposed under this project includes replacing compression seals at piers, removing spalled concrete, recoating rebar, installing bridge identification plates, cleaning bridges, installing bridge rail posts plate washers, and removing debris from piers. Some of the work will require equipment to operate below the bridge, but no in water work or temporary work pads are anticipated. Once work is complete, equipment will be removed with no alternations to the stream channel expected.
