Description
The State of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is requesting public comment and information on a proposal to maintain roadway surfaces by performing preventative maintenance on select locations of the NHS Non-Interstate & CTP routes in the Northern Region. The proposed work will include: Maintenance and rehabilitation of paved and gravel roadways Application of pavement strips and markings Stabilization and repair of shoulders and ditches Cleaning of culverts, inlets and storm drains Repair and replacement of signage Repair and/or refurbishment of lighting systemsThe above listed proposed work is anticipated to begin in 2026.The project is being developed in accordance with the following special purpose regulations including Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act; Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act; and the following Executive Orders (EO): EO 11988 (Floodplain Management); EO 11990 (Wetlands Protection); EO 12898 (Environmental Justice); EO 11593 (Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural Environment); and, EO 13112 (Invasive Species).To ensure that all possible factors are considered, please provide written comments to the following address by October 17, 2025.Department of Transportation & Public FacilitiesAttn: Melissa Riordan, Environmental Impact Analyst 32301 Peger RoadFairbanks, Alaska 99709-5316Telephone: (907) 451-2243Email: melissa.riordan@alaska.gov.
