Description
This is a request for a vendor to perform diatom identification and enumeration on periphyton samples collected by WAPB. The vendor will identify and enumerate diatoms to the lowest possible taxonomic level, which would be species and where applicable variety level, under oil immersion at 1000X magnification. Diatoms is a type of algae that is used to biologically monitor the quality of Indiana's streams and are the critical component of the Indiana Diatom Index of Biotic Integrity. Also, they are key elements of studies investigating the complex relationships between aquatic life, abiotic variables, and nutrients with the goal of establishing nutrient criteria for Indiana
