Description
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has issued multiple draft Mineral Closing Orders (MO) for public review and comment. These MOs would close certain lands to mineral entry along the James Dalton Highway as described by Mineral Orders: 1292, 1293, 1294, 1295, 1296, 1297, 1298, 1299, 1300, 1301, 1302, 1303, 1304, 1305, 1306, 1307, 1308, 1309, 1310, 1311, 1312, 1313, 1314, 1315, 1316, 1317, 1318, 1319, 1320, 1321, 1322, 1323, 1324, 1325, 1326, 1327. The total amount of land affected by these orders is more specifically described in each of the draft mineral orders attached below. Under AS 38.05.185 and AS 38.05.300, the Department of Natural Resources may close lands to mineral entry where current and proposed land uses are determined to be incompatible with mining activity. Once approved, these mineral orders would close state-owned lands and are intended to close state-selected lands currently withdrawn under Public Land Order 5150 upon conveyance to the state.
