NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATIONLAS 35797Alaska Dept. of Transportation and Public Facilities February 3, 2026Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:APPLICANT: Alaska Dept. of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF)PROJECT NAME: LAS 35797GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: East of Noatak, running north to the Delong Mountain Transportation System (DMTS), measuring approximately 67.6 miles, as shown on Exhibit A.LEGAL DESCRIPTION:Sections 5, 6, 7, 17, 18, 20, 21, 28, and 33 of Township 28 North, Range 19 West, Kateel River MeridianSections 7, 17, 18, 20, 21, 27, 28, 33, and 34 of Township 29 North, Range 19 West, Kateel River MeridianREQUESTED ACTIVITY: DOT&PF has applied for a land use permit for a temporary winter ice road as part of a project to relocate the existing Noatak Airport. The ice road would depart the DMTS haul road and travel 67.6 miles south to Noatak, as shown on Exhibit A. The route is expected to be 25’ to 30’ wide with some sections being as wide as 50’. The proposed route minimizes stream crossings and would use ice bridge construction to cross five channels, including Kiyak Creek.
