Cemetery Chapel Safe Request for Bids

The Belfast Cemetery Department is requesting bids for a safe that was donated in the early 1900’s.The safe was manufactured by York Safe and Lock Co., York PA. Date unknown when made. It has a combination lock by Yake Lock Mfg., Stamford Connecticut, with a patent of Nov 2, 1880.The safe has been in the City's possession since 1917 and has been housed in the Chapel at Grove Cemetery since then. The safe was donated by Edgar F. Hanson, former Mayor of Belfast. We have removed the safe from the Chapel and stored it at the Public Works facility at 54 Crocker Road in Belfast.The winning bidder must be able to come and get the safe at Public Works and properly move it to their destination. The highest bidder will be notified, and have a week to reply. If no one replies within that time, the next highest bidder will be awarded the safe.
