Description
Project # SDRER00656 The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is proposing to conduct a state-funded project to repair the Kupreanof Dock near Petersburg, Alaska, by replacing two damaged piles on the southwest side of the gangway. These repairs will ensure continued safe access for vessels and personnel, maintain the dock’s functionality for local transportation and commerce, and prevent further deterioration of the infrastructure. The proposed project would:• Remove two piles on the southwest side of gangway• Drill two 10-foot-deep rock sockets for the new piling• Drive two 16 inch-diameter steel pipe piles During construction the dock will be closed to the public for one or more periods of up to 72 hours to ensure public safety and reduce risk to property. A construction schedule will be shared once a contractor is selected. DOT&PF is soliciting comments on the proposed project. Specifically, we seek your feedback on any events or major expected/anticipated shipment dates that could be affected by the construction activities.
