STATE OF ALASKADEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES (DOT&PF)CENTRAL REGIONINVITATION TO BIDSealed bids for Whittier Tunnel Standby Generators, Project Number 0496(13) / Z580270000, will be received before 2:00 p.m., October 22, 2025 at 4111 Aviation Avenue, Anchorage, Alaska.This federally funded project will install four (4) new backup generators at the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel in Whittier, Alaska (two at the Bear Valley portal, two at the Whittier portal) to allow the tunnel to operate under normal and emergency conditions during prolonged power outages. Work includes diesel fuel tank systems, support pads, sitework, control systems, electrical systems, and other incidental work.The Engineer's Estimate is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. The Project substantial completion date will be December 15, 2026.A non-mandatory pre-bid site visit will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday October 14, 2025 at the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel (Bear Valley Portal). RSVP with the project manager, Eric Hershey at eric.hershey@alaska.gov or 907-269-5572, at least 48 hours in advance for specific meeting location instructions. Bidders are required to bring appropriate personal protective equipment, including hard hats and safety vests. Plans, Specs, Bid Packets and Addenda along with other additional information pertaining to the project may now be downloaded in their entirety at no charge from the Department’s approved online bidding service: https://www.bidx.com/ak/lettings.
