Description

The City of Berkeley is soliciting invitations for bid (IFB) for the Santa Fe Trackbed to Park Conversion Remediation, Demolition and Perimeter Fencing project, which consists of the removal of contaminated soil left behind by the site’s historic railroad use, demolition of existing encroaching structures, demolition and clearing of the site, including tree protection and removal, import and installation of clean soil fill, and construction of new fences along the property lines. Engineer’s estimate is $1,560,000. The specifications and selection process are summarized in this invitation for bid (IFB).Bids must be received no later than 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2025. All responses must be in a sealed envelope and have “Santa Fe Trackbed to Park Conversion Remediation, Demolition and Perimeter Fencing” and“Specification No. 26-11756-C”clearly marked on theouter most mailing envelope.Please submit one (1) unbound original and one (1) unbound copy of the bid as follows: Mail or Hand Deliver To: City of BerkeleyFinance/Purchasing2180 Milvia Street, 3rd FloorBerkeley, CA 94704 No bids will be accepted after the date and time stated above.Submittal of Response by fax is NOT acceptable.Incomplete bids and bids which do not conform to the requirements specified herein, will not be considered. Issuance of the IFB does not obligate the City to award a contract, nor is the City liable for any costs incurred by the bidder in the preparation and submittal of bids for the subject work. The City retains theright to award all or parts of this contract to several bidders, to not select any bidders, and/or to re-solicit bids. The act of submitting a bid is a declaration that the bidder has read the IFB and understands all the requirements and conditions. OPTIONAL SITE VISIT City will conduct anOptional Pre-Bid Site Visitat1:00 pmonThursday, November 13, 2025. The location for the site visit isthe southernmost block at 0 Ward Street at Sojourner Truth Court, between Acton Street and Sacramento Street.The location of work is fenced, locked, and not open to the public during normal business or daylight hours, limiting access to review the site independently. It is highly recommended that potential bidders visit the site to review site conditions prior to bid. Answers to any questions during the site visit will be provided as an official response in the addenda and posted to the City of Berkeley’sBid & Proposal Opportunitieswebpage.
