Requesting Input and Comment on a ProposedRelinquishment of State Entitlement LandsComment Period Ends 3:00 PM, September 9, 2025The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is proposing to relinquish the State’s entitlementland selection of surface and subsurface estates for the lands listed below. A location map isavailable on page 4 of this notice. The map shows the University’s selection area in blue outline.The lands considered for relinquishment under this notice are not currently owned by theState, they are under federal management and ownership. The purpose of the relinquishmentis to facilitate University of Alaska land selections under the Consolidate Appropriations Act forFiscal Year 2023 and the University of Alaska Fiscal Foundation Act.Lands to be relinquished:Township 12 North, Range 15 West, Sections 4-9, 17-21, 28-33, Fairbanks Meridian.Containing approximately 10,611 acres.Township 12 North, Range 16 West, Sections 1-36, Fairbanks Meridian.Containing approximately 22,771 acres.Township 13 North, Range 14 West, Sections 1-18,23, 24, Fairbanks Meridian.Containing approximately 12,406 acres.Township 13 North, Range 15 West, Sections 1-23, 26-35, Fairbanks Meridian.Containing approximately 21,082 acres.Township 13 North, Range 16 West, Sections 1-36, Fairbanks Meridian.Containing approximately 22,651 acres.Township 13 North, Range 17 West, Sections 1-12, Fairbanks Meridian.Containing approximately 7,608 acres.Township 13 North, Range 18 West, Sections 1-6, Fairbanks Meridian.Containing approximately 3,828 acres.Township 14 North, Range 12 West, those portions of Sections 17-21, 28-35, FairbanksMeridian, lying west of the Dalton Highway right-of-way. Containingapproximately 22,908 acres.Township 14 North, Range 17 West, Sections 1-3, 10-15, 19-36, Fairbanks Meridian.Containing approximately 17,072 acres.Township 15 North, Range 15 West, Sections 18-20, 28-36, Fairbanks Meridian.Containing approximately 7,559 acres.Township 15 North, Range 16 West, Sections 13-15, 22-27, 34-36, Fairbanks Meridian.Containing approximately 7,680 acres.Total Acreage Aggregating approximately 219,924 acres.As authorized by the Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2023 and the University ofAlaska Fiscal Foundation Act, the Bureau of Land Management may convey up to 360,000 acresof land to the University of Alaska. The land available for conveyance is land that has beenselected by the State of Alaska pursuant to section 6(b) of the Alaska Statehood Act. If the Stateand the University jointly identify the land to be conveyed to the University, the State mayconditionally relinquish its selection, and the Bureau of Land Management will convey the landto the University. The University of Alaska has selected the land identified above and requeststhe State to consider relinquishment of its selection interests.Alaska Statute (AS) 38.05.035 allows for disposals of interests in state lands, and AS 38.05.945provides procedures for notice of those disposals.This notice and any future decisions on this proposed action are available on the State of Alaskaonline public notice portal: http://aws.state.ak.us/OnlinePublicNotices/.
