Description
Project # PENDING The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is proposing to make emergency repairs to the metal shingle roof at the Skagway Ferry Terminal facility in Skagway, Alaska. The terminal building’s roof has areas with 100% section loss and is currently leaking. The ferry terminal serves as a vital public facility for the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS). The building’s original metal shake roof has failed; multiple areas are actively leaking water into the interior, thus compromising structural components and threatening operations. Immediate intervention is needed to ensure continued public service and prevent further damage to the facility. The project is needed to increase the longevity of the existing facility and improve safety for the traveling public. Construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2025 or sooner and finish within one construction season. More information will be shared as the project progresses.
