MatSu Valley Planning for TransportationPublic Participation Plan (PPP)Notice of 45-Day Public Comment PeriodJuly 23, 2025 – September 11, 2025MatSu Valley Planning for Transportation (MVP) is a nonprofit organization serving as the regional transportation planning organization for the greater core area of the Matanuska-Susitna (Mat-Su) Borough. MVP is governed by a seven-member Policy Board composed of elected and appointed officials from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, the Cities of Palmer and Wasilla, Knik Tribe, Chickaloon Native Village, and the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities.MVP is responsible for developing transportation plans and policies, setting priorities for the use of federal transportation funds, and providing a collaborative forum for regional decision-making.The Public Participation Plan (PPP) provides the framework for MVP’s continuous, cooperative, and comprehensive (3C) transportation planning process. It outlines how MVP will keep the public informed, engaged, and involved throughout transportation planning efforts and the infrastructure projects that follow. The PPP includes strategies to promote meaningful public involvement and encourages input on transportation issues, plans, programs, and projects. MVP’s goal is to help create a multimodal transportation system that allows people to walk, bike, use public transit, or drive—based on their needs and preferences. MVP is seeking public feedback on the Draft Public Participation Plan. We encourage residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to review the plan and share their thoughts on our proposed outreach activities, preferred communication methods, and any areas where the plan may be improved. To review the Draft PPP, please visit: www.mvpmpo.com/public-participation-planSubmit comments in one of the following ways: Online: www.mvpmpo.com/public-participation-plan Email: Kim Sollien at kim.sollien@mvpmpo.comAccessibility & Accommodations:Individuals with disabilities who need auxiliary aids, services, or special accommodations to participate in this review process should contact Kim Sollien at kim.sollien@mvpmpo.com as early as possible to ensure arrangements can be made.MVP’s public involvement process complies with 23 C.F.R. § 450.316(b).
