PUBLIC NOTICEDEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC FACILITIESNORTHERN REGIONSEASONAL VEHICLE WEIGHT RESTRICTIONSIssue Date: May 23rd, 2025Seasonal weight restrictions apply to all vehicles over 10,000# GVW. Weight restrictions are now in effect within the Northern Region at the locations specified below. These weight restrictions are stated as a percentage of legal allowable weight and shall be applied to the maximum axle loading in accordance with 17 AAC 25.013(e).ADOT&PF Northern Region boundaries extend from Mile 163 Parks Highway north and from Mile 118 Glenn Highway north-east, and from Valdez on the Richardson Highway north to Fairbanks. Road systems within Cordova and Nome are also within the Northern Region.Until further notice, no seasonal vehicle weight restrictions will apply to the Elliott Highway: MP 0 to 72, or to the Dalton Highway MP 0 to 414.Effective Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, at 8:00 AM:The following roads are returned to normal permitting procedures:Alaska Highway MP 1222 to 1421 (Canadian Border to Delta)Glenn Highway MP 118 to 189 (NR boundary to Glennallen)Parks Highway MP 163 to 356 (Cantwell to Fairbanks)Richardson Highway MP 0 to 363 (Valdez to Fairbanks)Shaw Creek RoadAll State maintained roads in the Valdez and Cordova areasAll State maintained roads in the Tazlina and Glennallen areas unless otherwise restrictedAll State maintained roads in the Tok and Delta areas unless otherwise restrictedThe following roads will be restricted to 100% of legal axle load, and with 100% legal axle loads allowed on the drive axles of approved Long Combination Vehicles (LCV) of 90’ or more with at least two trailers (no overloads):Tok Cutoff Highway MP 0 to 124 (Gakona to Tok)All other State maintained roads in the Northern Region unless otherwise restrictedThe following roads will be restricted to 85% of legal axle load (no overloads):Steese Highway MP 21 to 81 (Cleary Summit to Montana Creek)Johnson Road MP 0 to 1.5 (Salcha)The following roads will be restricted to 75% of legal axle load (no overloads):Northway RoadTaylor HighwayTop of the World HighwayEdgerton HighwayHenderson RoadJohnson Road MP 1.5 to 11Murphy Dome RoadOld Nenana HighwaySpinach Creek RoadThe following roads are restricted to 50% of legal axle load (no overloads):Denali HighwayElliott Highway MP 73 to 150 (Livengood to Manley)Tofty RoadNabesna RoadMcCarthy RoadEster Dome RoadOld Rich/Old Valdez Trail @ Salcha (off Stringer Road)Stringer RoadSt. Patrick RoadAdditional restrictions and modifications will be imposed as necessary.
