NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGESIN THE REGULATIONS OF THE ALASKA BOARD OF GAMEThe Alaska Department of Fish and Game, under a delegation of authority from the Board of Game, proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 5 of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with hunting seasons and bag limits of king and common eider in Game Unit 15(C), Canada Geese in Game Management Units 9, 17 and 18, hunting seasons for Brant statewide, and hunting seasons and bag limits for Emperor geese statewide, including the following:(1) 5 AAC 85.065(a)(4)(B) is amended to clarify the bag limit in Game Unit 15(C) by referring to king and common eider; this amendment clarifies the prohibition against taking Spectacled and Steller’s eider.5 AAC 85.065(a)(4)(B) is amended to clarify the bag limit in Game Unit 15(C) by referring to common eider; this amendment clarifies the prohibition against taking Spectacled and Steller’s eider.(2) 5 AAC 85.065(a)(4)(C) is amended to apply the following changes: Canada geese: Game Management Units 9, 17 and 18, the daily bag limits are decreased from a daily bag limit of 4 birds, 12 in possession, to a daily bag limit of 3 birds, 9 in possession. (3) 5 AAC 85.065(a)(4)(F) is amended to apply the following changes: Brant: Game Management Units 1-4, 11-13, and 17-26, the hunting season is shortened to September 1 – October 21; in Game Management Units 5-7, 9, 10 (Unimak Island only), and Units 14-16 the hunting season is shortened to October 1 – November 20; in Game Management Units 8 and 10 (except Unimak Island), the hunting season is shortened to October 8 – November 27.(4) 5 AAC 85.065(a)(4)(G) is amended to apply the following change: Emperor geese: Game Management Units 1-26, all Emperor goose hunting seasons are closed statewide. You may comment on the proposed regulation changes, including the potential costs to private persons of complying with the proposed changes, by submitting written comments to Jason Schamber, ADF&G Waterfowl Program Coordinator at Jason.schamber@alaska.gov.
