Overweight/Oversize permits may be obtained from the State of Alaska Division of Measurement Standards and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement permit office.A reminder of some basic requirements found inAnchorage Municipal Code.9.46.410 Trucks prohibited on certain streets: use of truck routes.A. No local or neighborhood collector street, as designated on the official streets and high-ways plan of the municipality, shall be used by any commercial vehicle with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or greater, except where required to make deliveries or pickups, or to provide business service at a specific location where the vehicle is required as an essential part of the service, and then only by the most direct route requiring the least amount of travel upon such local or residential collector streets.9.36.370 Use of compression brakes prohibited.A. No person shall use compression brakes while operating a motor vehicle within the mu-nicipality, except in an emergency.B. For the purpose of this section, the term "compression brake" means a hydraulic engine attachment that converts a diesel engine into an air compressor and, when engaged, oper-ates to slow the vehicle.9.46.060 Securing of load.A. No vehicle shall be driven or moved on any street unless its load or contents are so secured as to prevent any material from dropping, shifting, leaking, falling from any part of the vehicle, or otherwise escaping there from, except sand may be dropped for the purpose of securing traction, or water or other substance may be sprinkled on a roadway in cleaning or maintaining such roadway.B. No person may operate on any street any vehicle with any load unless the load and any covering thereon are securely fastened so as to prevent the covering or load from becoming loose, detached or in any manner a hazard to other users of the street.24.80.060 Spilled loads.The owner or operator of any vehicle which has spilled, dropped, dumped or in any manner deposited any matter upon a public place shall cause the public place to be cleaned imme-diately unless specific permission for delay is authorized by the director of development services. Failure to clean the public place upon demand by the director of development ser-vices shall make the owner or operator, or both, subject to the provisions of Section 24.95.010
