Notice of Intent and Public CommentNorthern Region FFY26 National Highway System (NHS) Non-Interstate & Community Transportation Program (CTP) Bridge Preventative Maintenance and RepairState Project Number: NFHWY01119The State of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is requesting public comments and information on the proposed Northern Region FFY26 NHS Non-Interstate & CTP Bridge Preventive Maintenance and Repair project.The project purpose is to complete preventative maintenance and preservation measures on existing bridges at select locations along the NHS Non-Interstate & CTP routes in the Northern Region. Specifically bridge maintenance work is proposed at the following locations: on the Elliott Highway at Hot Springs Slough Bridge MP 149.9; on the Steese Highway at the Birch Creek Bridge at MP 147.2, the Crooked Creek Bridge at MP 40.4 and the Crooked Creek Bridge at MP 127.8; on Northway Road at the Chisana River Bridge MP 0.3; on 91 Mile Loop at the Little Tok River Bridge MP 0.0, on 92 Mile Loop at the Little Tok Overflow Bridge MP 0.6; on 93 Mile Loop at the Trail Creek Bridge MP 1.3; on the Tok Cutoff Highway at the Tok River Bridge MP 103.9, the Little Tok River Bridge MP 98.2, and the Clearwater Creek Bridge MP 109.3; on the Denali Highway at the Tangle Creek Bridge MP 21.3; on the Nabesna Road at Jack Creek Bridge MP 36.Construction for the proposed project is anticipated to begin in 2025.The project is being developed in accordance with the following special purpose regulations including Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act; Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act; and the following Executive Orders (EO): EO 11988 (Floodplain Management); EO 11990 (Wetlands Protection); EO 12898 (Environmental Justice); EO 11593 (Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural Environment); and, EO 13112 (Invasive Species).To ensure that all possible factors are considered, please provide written comments to the following address by October 20, 2025.
