PUBLIC NOTICEADL 234322Utility EasementBristol Bay Telephone Cooperative Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land, and Water (DMLW), Southcentral Regional Land Office (SCRO) has received an application for the following public utility easement: APPLICANT: Bristol Bay Telephone Cooperative PROJECT NAME: ADL 234322 GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: The requested easement segments will be established near the communities of Koliganek, New Stuyahok, Levelock, Naknek, South Naknek, Ekwok and King Salmon, Alaska. LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Township 008 South, Range 47 West, Seward Meridian Section 32 (Nushagak River submerged lands) (Figure 1.4) Township 012 South, Range 45 West, Seward Meridian Sections 27 and 28 (Kvichak River submerged lands) (Figure 1.2) Township 011 South, Range 46 West, Seward Meridian Section 1 (Figure 1.1) Township 013 South, Range 45 West, Seward Meridian Section 4, 9, 16, and 27(Alagnak River submerged lands in 27) (Figure 1.2) Township 015 South, Range 45 West, Seward Meridian Section 4, 5, 8, 17, 20, 29, and 32 (Figure 1.3) Township 016 South, Range 45 West, Seward Meridian Section 4, 5, 9, 16, and 21 (Figure 1.3) REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The applicant has requested approval of a public utility easement over state-owned, DMLW managed lands and the combined segments will occupy an area approximately 78,639 feet in length and 30 feet wide, for 54.16 acres, more or less. The purpose of the proposed easement is for the installation, operation, and maintenance of a buried fiber optic cable for the purpose of providing high-speed internet services to the rural Alaskan communities of Koliganek, New Stuyahok, Levelock, Naknek, South Naknek, Ekwok and King Salmon, Alaska. Horizontal directional drilling will be used to install fiber optic cable in conduit under the Alagnak, Kvichak, and Nushagak Rivers. There will be a mobile diesel fuel tank stored within the construction corridor The easement, if approved, may differ from that described herein. REQUESTED TERM: 30+ years DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: October 20, 2025 Members of the public and interested agencies are invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made.
